Community Trust Fund |

Among other things the Agreement required the Airport to establish a Community Trust Fund in which it would invest £100,000 each year. At its meeting in July 2005 the Committee wasdelighted to learn that the Airport had agreed to increase this to £150,000. The agreement also provides that in addition to the Airport's contribution the Trust should receive the penalties imposed on airlines for noise violations and that the Airport should pay for the day-to-day administration of the Trust. Established by a Declaration of Trust on 8th December 1997 the Trust was registered as a Charity (1071703) in Setptember the following year. The Trust has a Board of eight trustees of whom six are appointed by MACC from among its members representing the local authorities of Stockport, Trafford, Manchester, Congleton, Macclesfield and Vale Royal. The other two Board members are appointed by Cheshire County Council and the Airport Company. All members bring local knowledge to the Trust Fund ensuring that the money is used to the maximum benefit of the community.
The Trust Deed allows the Trust to operate in the Boroughs of Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Manchester in Greater Manchester and in Congleton, Macclesfield and Vale Royal in Cheshire although in practice the Trust offers grants in a rather smaller area more local to the Airport. The themes of the Trust are charitable projects which have a community, social or environmental focus local to the Airport. By mid 2005 the Trust had spent in the region of £1.67 million on well over 500 projects of this kind. The Trust has published some useful Guidelines for local organisations wishing to make application for a grant (the Trust does not make grants to individuals). This can be seen/downloaded on the Airport's website (.pdf, 864kb) The contact details of the Trust Fund are: Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund |
